did she throw away the gift i gave her?
I met my friend last november and gave her a pair of earrings that I made.
I left the country then unexpectedly came back.
I asked her if she ever wears the earrings and she said " when I go out I do."
Well I've been out with her a few times and have never seen them. (usually people wear the pieces I give them when we're together, which has always been nice)
Last week, I was at her house and her jewelry box was in her living room so yes, I looked through it! I didn't see the earrings anywhere.
I can't really ask about them again but I'm a bit pissed off. These were sterling silver and blue topaz and I sell them for 36$ a pair!
Is it likely she got rid of them?
I'd be upset too if I was in your position. I bought an expensive item for a friend's birthday (also jewellery) and when I went to her house it was dumped on the kitchen table with a broken chain.
It's possible that she has lost them or that they weren't in that jewellery box (maybe she was keeping them somewhere else. Personally, I have several jewellery boxes). It sounds like a really lovely gift which you put a lot of thought into - I can't imagine she'd have thrown them away but I would be inclined to try and just forget about it. If you don't want to risk your friendship then don't mention it to her again - just don't go to so much effort in the gift department in future, it'll be her loss!
